Parent involvement is a key factor in a child's success in the classroom. Parents help reinforce the different topics a child learns in the classroom. At UME Prep, we see education as a team effort, which involves active participation from the student, teacher, and parents. According to research done by Michigan Department of Education, "Lack of parental involvement is one of the biggest problems facing public schools." The research proves that students whose parents are actively involved in their education receive higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates, have better school attendance, and increased motivation. It can also lead to better self-esteem, lower rates of suspension, decreased use of drugs and alcohol, and fewer instances of violent behavior. We encourage parents to take advantage of the research.
